After the war, humanity chose a site where the film between the aether and the mortal realm had once been weakest, a Ley Line Convergence, where power had first been siphoned and weaponized.

There, they built Midnight City.
It was founded as both a monument and containment. A city of immense potential and immense misery, paved over to suppress what lay beneath it. Concrete over ley lines. Law over magic. Control over reverence. The ley line still hums beneath the streets. It is coveted. Contested. Dangerous.

When supernaturals reintegrated into society, a binding covenant was formed:

There are no acceptable abuses of power.
Supernaturals are permitted to exist within human society, so long as they do not dominate it. Humanity is permitted to progress, so long as it does not threaten stability.
The Umbral Tide is forbidden.
Large-scale Aetherium manipulation is forbidden.
To violate the Concord is to invite eradication.
Power, not race, is the threat.

N.O.O.S.E.
The National Order of Occult & Supernatural Enforcement was born from wartime vigilance and formalized after peace. They are not heroes. They are not judges. They are containment. N.O.O.S.E monitors supernatural activity, regulates magical usage, and quietly observes human experimentation with Aether-derived power. They understand a truth history proved at great cost: A human with Aetherium access can be as catastrophic as any demon. N.O.O.S.E does not act preemptively.
They act decisively.

The Present Day
Since 2020, the Aether has begun to realign. Old harmonies stir. New beings are emerging into a world that fears a second war. Magic is returning, but changed, unstable, and watched. Midnight City stands at the center of it all. This is not a world of gods and monsters. This is a world of consequences. What you are matters less than what you choose to do with power.
